Description

This course is a three-day introductory-level course revolving around the premise of underwater surveying. The purpose of this course is to develop a better understanding of the theoretical, technical, practical, and multi-disciplinary nature of underwater surveying capabilities within a real-world situational context. Developing a fundamental understanding of underwater surveying and its application will help illustrate the pivotal role that underwater surveying plays in the exploitation and management of the ocean and its resources. This should further aid in linking the knowing with the doing from a seafloor evaluation and environmental assessment perspective, as well as illustrating the pivotal role that underwater surveying plays in support of the blue economy.

Learning Outcomes

This course will develop the participant's ability to:

  • Understand foundational underwater surveying principles and applications.
  • Assess fundamental underwater surveying methods, techniques, and workflows.
  • Appreciate the multi-disciplinary nature of underwater surveying strategies.
  • Develop a connection between underwater surveying theoretical knowledge and its practical application.
