Description
This course is designed to give workers/participants an understanding of the importance of basic farm safety practices and procedures. It includes Workplace Health Management Information System (WHMIS), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), workplace Harassment and Violence, incident reporting, hazards related to various farm systems and activities (e.g., confined space, chemical use, boating, loading, and harvesting systems, storage), and safe work procedures.Learning Outcomes
To enable the participant to
- Outline Aquaculture Occupational Health and Safety issues and regulations
- Outline the structure of Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace at both provincial and federal levels
- Explain and use the Workplace Health Management Information System (WHMIS)
- Identify hazards related to working on an aquaculture site and how to control them
- Outline the procedure for accident/incident reporting
- Make the workplace a safer place to work
