Description

This is an industry response course that is designed to prepare individuals, with minimal or no prior sea experience, to pursue a career in the Northern fisheries.

Learning Outcomes

To enable participants to:
  • Develop an understanding of the management of Northern fisheries resources
  • Harness the opportunities presented by commercial fishery participation
  • Develop the necessary seamanship skills, fishing gear knowledge, and fishing operations knowledge needed to participate safely in the Northern inshore fishery
  • Develop an understanding of the personal and professional life adjustments involved with a career in the fishing industry
