101106 - Advanced Ship Manoeuvring: Customized Client Operations

Description

This course is intended for personnel engaged in advanced ship manoeuvring operations, including vessel movement, mooring, control room operations, and watchkeeping. Through classroom instruction and simulated exercises, participants develop the knowledge and skills required to safely conduct complex vessel manoeuvres in a variety of operational environments.

Topics may include departure and arrival manoeuvres, approach and positioning techniques, mooring operations, maintaining vessel position and heading, operational control during transfer or interface activities, and emergency response procedures.

Simulator scenarios are customized to meet the client's operational requirements while maintaining the approved learning outcomes.

Customization may include, but it is not limited to:

• Vessel type and operating characteristics
• Port, terminal, or waterway configuration
• Environmental conditions (wind, current, tide, visibility, sea state, ice)
• Cargo or loading conditions
• Company operating procedures
• Mission- or operation-specific manoeuvring scenarios (e.g. berthing, unberthing, offshore operations, mooring, dynamic positioning, tug-assisted manoeuvres, emergency procedures)

Customization of simulator scenarios supports the approved course objectives and does not alter the approved curriculum, learning outcomes, or assessment requirements

Learning Outcomes

1. To demonstrate ship arrival and departures from berths.
2. To allow personnel to become familiar with ship specific propulsion types and characteristics.
3. To illustrate the principles of ship manoeuvring and communications as may be required by company or industry standards.
4. To demonstrate heading control of ships under varying operational demands and conditions.
5. To demonstrate ship emergency manoeuvres.
